It has the sense of the second part of a barter, the counterpart of allagma, (ant-allagma) which is the primary thing that is traded and also means "the price" or "the reward" for a thing and  "change" and "vicissitude." --   - The word translated as "exchange" is a noun that means that which is traded in an exchange. This word is also rare, appearing only here and in the parallel verse in Mark. This sense is a "price," that is, the second part of an exchange for goods.
